Insights on Literature, etiquette, and Beauty from a Catholic wife and mom

We are thrilled to be homeschooling our son this coming academic year. After exploring and using different curricula these past few years, we have discovered and narrowed down our favorites. This is the homeschool curriculum we will be using for our son who is in second grade:

Language Arts, Phonics, Reading, and Typing Elective: The Good and the Beautiful

Mathematics: Right Start Math

Right Start Math has been a huge blessing for us. First introduced to us by another homeschooling mom, it uses a set of manipulatives, such as an abacus, number cards, tangrams, and a number balance/ scale. These same manipulatives can be used all the way up to 8th grade. The way the math is taught is more along the lines of grasping concepts instead of relying on rote memorization.

History: The Story of Civilization Volume 1: The Ancient World from Tan Books

In addition to this curricula, our son attends a co-op each month and a weekly art class, as well as being involved in sports. I also add in a few seasonal unit studies throughout the year, my favorite are from Stephanie Hathaway Designs. I love discovering new curriculum, so let me know:

Do you homeschool? What curriculum do you use?
