Insights on Literature, etiquette, and Beauty from a Catholic wife and mom

I just started reading the book ‘Atomic Habits‘ by James Clear. I first heard about it after listening to THIS podcast. The book has me thinking a lot about habits and goals. I’ve always been a goal oriented person. I love setting goals, working towards them, and achieving them. Hearing about how other people want to improve their lives is one of my favorite topics and always inspires me.

Being faithful to the smallest (good!) habits has the potential to change our lives in such positive ways. No goal is too small. The difference a small habit can make over time is incredible! Since we started dating, at the start of each month, Mike and I talk about how the last month went, ways we could improve, and goals for the upcoming month. It’s really helped us and I can’t recommend it enough, whether you’re single, dating, or married – having goals and working towards accomplishing them is so important!

February is one one of my favorite months of the year. Along with celebrating the gift of life and setting new goals for a new year (my birthday is the 17th!) I love celebrating Valentine’s Day! AND the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, my favorite Marian devotion and apparition, is on the 11th! Mike and I visited Lourdes during our honeymoon and I’ve been asking her intercession since I was young. She is the patron of the sick and if you or someone you know are struggling with an illness, call upon her help!

This past week Mike and I flew to New Jersey to meet with a Napro doctor. I’ve had secondary infertility for the past three years. We’ve exhausted all the options available to us and decided to schedule surgery for the 20th of this month. (You can click HERE to read more about it on my Instagram post.) Over the next couple of weeks I’m focusing on doing all I can to prepare for surgery, from eating well to exercising, in hopes that the recovery will (hopefully!) be as smooth as possible. If you have any advice, please share! And, we would love your prayers!

What are your goals this month? I would love to hear! Here are mine!
