Last year I read all of the writings of my favorite philosopher, Dietrich von Hildebrand. I was deeply impacted by his focus on beauty and the proper response we should have to it. Hildebrand’s writings, paired with my growing knowledge of etiquette, prompted me to make some New Year resolutions regarding beauty, specifically how I present myself.
For years, many of my friends have been encouraging me to get my color analysis done. With my new resolution in mind, I finally decided to do it! And I’m so thankful I did.
Through a scientific draping process, a color analyst helps you to discover your perfect colors for clothing, accessories, hair, and makeup. There are four seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) and the one you are categorized into is dependent on several factors, especially your skin’s specific natural undertones.
I knew I wanted to to get my color analysis done through House of Colour. As I was searching through Dallas’ directory, I came across color analyst, Merideth Waltman. You know when you just KNOW something deep down? The minute I saw her picture I KNEW that I wanted to work with her! I’m so glad I went with my intuition and set up an appointment with her.
Merideth discovered that I have a Summer palette and I am so happy about it! I love the pinks, blues, and purples (colors I’m naturally drawn to already) that are in this season’s palette. As she draped each color, I saw such a significant difference in myself that I began to tear up with some shades (especially my “WOW colors” – I felt fully “me”!
Throughout the entire process Merideth was kind, professional, passionate, and fun. Not only is she an expert in the art of color analysis, but you immediately know it is her gift. She took her time and was attentive to every detail, answering my questions thoroughly, all while giving her best tips and advice.
I don’t say this lightly, but getting my analysis done with Merideth was life-changing. For the past decade – from college, to pregnancy, nursing, motherhood, exercise, and everything in between – I have questioned what I should wear, what colors look best on me, what jewelry I should wear, and what makeup shades to purchase. I now confidently know the answer to all of these questions!
Knowing my season’s palette opened up so much time and took off such a mental load for me! I know exactly what colors look best on me, I know what outfits to wear, I know what clothes to shop for, I know what makeup shades to purchase. I’m not endlessly scrolling online shopping, or purchasing every influencer’s “top favorites” or what looks good on them. I know what looks best on me.
And best of all? The focus isn’t the clothes, makeup, jewelry, or even the colors. It’s YOU. Merideth said that you can often tell someone isn’t wearing their correct colors when you first notice the outfit before the person, specifically, instead of looking into their eyes. I love how wearing your season’s color palette accentuates the natural beauty God gifted each of us with.
YES! And then some. And it’s a gift that keeps giving. I now have color swatches in my season, helping me to shop with intention. I have purchased a lot less, yet with more awareness. If you are in the Dallas/Plano area, definitely go to Merideth for a consultation. She also offers styling consultations, which I’ll be doing this month with her! And even if you aren’t in the area, be sure to follow her HERE for color analysis and House of Colour tips!
