Insights on Literature, etiquette, and Beauty from a Catholic wife and mom

The purchase of occasion dresses are a rarity in this season of life. The dresses I am wearing lately are ones that can easily transition in and out of the home, dresses that are both beautiful and comfortable, catering to the demands of daily life. I am wearing dresses that I can cook, clean, and play with Peter in and then leave the house and run errands or grab a quick lunch with Mike in.

Though some days I am home in loungewear, I am trying more and more to wear beautiful dresses that truly reflect the dignity and beauty found in my daily routine. I find that when I put on a dress instead of sweats after getting ready for the day I feel more put together and my days reflect that! I am more productive, in a better mood, and eager to accomplish all that the day has in store.

These are some of my favorite summer dresses this season.

1.) Madeline Dress In Pink from Ivy City: Ivy City is one of my favorite dress brands. Created by three mothers, (I met them this past November and they are so kind!) these dresses are functional (most are bump and nursing friendly) and beautiful. I wear this dress weekly and every time I wear it out, I am always asked where it is from! The pink is my favorite color but all of their colors in this style are stunning.

2.) Santa Maria Maxi Dress from Free People: Talking about colors…all of the colors of this dress are so beautiful. I am on a waitlist for this dress and I can’t wait until my size is restocked in this gold (or rosewood!) color. They currently have some sizes available – check to see if yours is!

3.) Amalia Tie Front Knit Midi Dress from Vici: This dress is so cozy. I love how flattering the tie front is without being constricting. The latte color makes it so easy to accessorize. This is the perfect house dress or date dress!

4.) Olivia Linen Midi Dress from Ivory Kai: I just discovered Ivorie Kai and their clothes are so beautiful (I’ve been eyeing their mom jeans!). Linen dresses are my favorite and this beautiful linen-blend dress elevates any occasion – whether you’re folding laundry or running errands!

5.) Hein Dress from Nothing Fits But: I wear this dress so often (see pictures below!) and it is the most romantic, Jane Austenesque piece of clothing in my wardrobe. It is a cotton-linen blend, with a smocked chest and puffed sleeves. Bump and nursing friendly, this dress can be worn in all stages of life. The toile pattern is even more stunning in person. I can’t recommend it enough!

Which dress is your favorite? Let me know in the comments, along with any of your favorite dress brands!
