Insights on Literature, etiquette, and Beauty from a Catholic wife and mom

September 2018 Goals

This summer has been full of blessings! Throughout this month of September, we plan to enjoy the last two weeks of summer and transition into the beautiful season of Autumn! It will be our first Autumn here in our new home and we cannot wait to make it a memorable one for our family.

Our main goal this month is to create and follow a good routine. Between our move, working on Moscati Scrubs, and some health news, we have fallen out of our daily habits and family Rule of Life. This month we are focusing on prioritizing and setting realistic goals. We recently came across the “two minute rule”, something that’s really helped us these past few weeks: if we can get something done in two minutes or less, we need to do it at that very moment!

Something we have been consistent with is BBG! We found a free one month trial and decided to give it a try. We love it! We haven’t missed one workout since starting it. Even though it is one of the most challenging exercise routines we have ever done, we find ourselves looking forward to it each day! It’s really motivating us in all other aspects of our life. We can’t wait to see where these next twelve weeks of the program take us!

September 2018 Family Goals

  • Go apple picking! Last year we went to a beautiful apple orchard and we cannot wait to go back! I loved seeing last year’s pictures and re-reading the post that Mike wrote about it!
  • Make this Cider Caramel Apple Pie! Every September since we’ve been dating, we have made this pie together – it’s so delicious!
  • Continue exercising with BBG on the Sweat app.
  • Try making these lemon beeswax candles!
  • Establish and live out a family routine and rhythm for Autumn.
  • Clean and set up our home office space.
  • Celebrate with friends as they enter into the diaconate!
  • Spend a few minutes each morning completing some lessons with Peter. Here are the two main resources we are using: Gather Grow Joe’s Catholic Calendar and Morning Center and the book ‘Twenty-Six Letters to Heaven: A Catholic Preschool Curriculum‘.
  • Celebrate Saint Teresa of Calcutta’s Feast Day on September 5th! In researching her life and her upbringing in Skopje, we found a recipe for Tavche Gravche, a traditional Macedonian dish! We are making it in her honor!
  • Watch the film Black Gold. We are so inspired by Catholic Relief Services Ethical Trade’s partnership with Equal Exchange and their creation of Mama Tierra Coffee – a fair trade organic coffee from farmers in Oaxaca. We are just discovering the reality of how workers in the coffee industry are treated. We want to learn more and do our part to help promote the dignity of every human person and their work.
