On the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, we are consecrating ourselves to Divine Mercy. For the past few weeks we have been preparing for this special day through Father Michael Gaitley’s book, ‘33 Days to Merciful Love‘. Our consecration takes place just a few days before Lent begins. We are so eager and excited for Lent to start!
Father Gaitley’s book explains the importance of comforting Jesus’ Sacred Heart by asking Him for His mercy. Jesus’ Heart is consoled when we do this! His Heart is burning to release love and mercy upon us! Divine Mercy is on the forefront of our minds and is transforming our plans for Lent this year. Our desire is to grow in mercy and charity. To do this we are focusing on Saint Thérèse of Lisieux’s ‘Little Way’ (another beautiful part of this book!) and Saint Faustina’s message of Christ’s mercy.
Here are the three resources we are using this Lent to lead us closer to Christ’s Merciful Heart. Our list includes books written by Saints who led lives of mercy in action, and a prayer journal from Blessed Is She. Our goal this Lent is for our fast to be one of action and our sacrifice one of mercy.
