Insights on Literature, etiquette, and Beauty from a Catholic wife and mom

It’s Gaudete Sunday! This is the Third Week of Advent – a time for rejoicing! This week we are filled with joy at the thought of the coming of the Christ Child. That is what the pink candle represents- joy – and it is no small wonder that it stands out among the other candles. God WANTS us to be joyful! He wants us to be happy!

Nowhere is this more apparent than on the floor of Peter’s nursery. His eyes light up at the sight of a small train car. He loves reading the same book over and over! He would bounce in his bouncer for hours if his little body allowed it. He is content to turn a sock over in his hands, studying each thread. He is the personification of joy! Filled with wonder, he reaches for everything. Everything is a joy for him. Everything is new, at each moment. Seeing the world through the eyes of a child, there is so much to wonder at, there is so much to be joyful about, and there is so much to be thankful for!

I pray that you are full of joy in this season of Advent, and that you have an opportunity to inspire joy in others this week.
