Insights on Literature, etiquette, and Beauty from a Catholic wife and mom

One of my September goals this year was to fill in my planner. I love staying organized, and in this first year as a wife and mother it is even more important to do so. In a conversation with my mother last week she said that the more organized a person is, the more they are able to achieve in life. Being organized and planning has helped our family stay motivated and accomplish our goals.

I purchased Rifle Paper Co.’s Jardin de Paris seventeen-month planner this summer, which starts in August and ends next December. I highly recommend a seventeen-month planner if you or any of your family members are in academia, or if you see each September as a new beginning like I do! I have always loved Rifle Paper Co.’s products – their designs are exquisite, and this planner is no exception! I believe that if you are going to have something with you for seventeen months, it should be something you find beautiful!

Here are some tips on how to fill out your planner:

  • Find a planner that fits your lifestyle and schedule
    – Twelve-month planner vs. seventeen-month planner
    – Weekly vs. monthly calendar pages
  • Fill in your planner with appointments, exams, special dates, family’s birthdays, your anniversary and travel dates
  • For appointments: include time of appointment, address, distance and time it takes to travel to location, and phone number
  • Include the birthdays and anniversaries of your extended family and close friends – everyone loves a little appreciation on their special days
  • Fill in both the monthly section and daily section
    – The daily section should be more detailed
  • In the front of your planner, include important contact information
    – Physician’s phone number
    – Pediatrician’s phone number
    – Emergency contact information
  • Be detailed when filling in your planner – don’t use just one word
  • Include personal goals each month, place a check mark next to a goal if you accomplish it
