Solly Baby

As the time of Peter’s coming grew nearer, I wanted to learn everything I could about taking care of him. One of the top skills I wanted to nail down was swaddling. Claire and I searched for swaddles that were stylish and comfortable, and we were open to suggestions.

Claire was reading a lot online about what to pack for the hospital and came across an Instagram post by Merrick’s Art. The post briefly mentioned a swaddle that easily keeps a baby bundled, and Claire ordered a couple. I was skeptical at first because I wanted a blanket that wouldn’t irritate Peter’s skin while keeping him safe and snug. The swaddles arrived feeling a bit rough. We threw them in the wash and that’s when the magic happened. These swaddles are the SOFTEST THING GOING!  I was thoroughly impressed, and was so excited to use them. After practicing a few times on a stuffed animal lamb (I know, but how many people have a life size baby doll lying around), we were finally able to try out the swaddles on Peter. Compared to the other swaddles we purchased, these keep him tightly wrapped throughout the night. I needed to look up these swaddles!

I read the tag on the blanket and found the website for Solly Baby. This woman started the company out of her house to create a safe, more comfortable wrap for her and her children. It is named for her second child, Solomon. The more I read, the more I liked this brand. We loved the swaddles so much that we purchased two more – and these are the ones that find their way into our hands the most. Even at three months, Peter is still sleeping safe and snug in these swaddles!
