One more night apart! Just one more night and we will be together again. It is too quiet at night. I miss the busyness and sounds of Peter after dinner, and watching John Adams with you. I miss being right next to you, sharing meals with you, having fun with you!
Chicago has been an incredible city. The hotel is right in the middle of it all, and if you pick a direction and walk you cannot be disappointed. It has been quite an experience to walk a mile through the city to work every day!
Unfortunately I was not able to get to that French restaurant, but the food is very good. Last night I met up with your aunt and uncle. They brought me to a restaurant off Michigan Avenue called The Gage. The food was amazing – and your aunt and uncle were so generous. I had the Pekin duck breast on a bed of “hoppin’ john.” The waiter told me that it is made each year on New Year’s in Louisiana for good luck. Let’s get to the bottom line though – luck has nothing to do with it. We have GOT to recreate this dish! It was corn and black eyed peas, and rice and pulled pork all mixed up like a kind of sauce. You would have loved it.
After dinner we walked across to Millennium Park. There is so much to see and do there! There are gardens, fountains, and a huge open field that is one of the coolest music venues I have ever seen. We walked a little further north and came upon the famous Bean of Chicago. We got some good pictures that I can’t wait to show you! We then stumbled upon the coolest exhibition of action sports photographs. It was called Red Bull Illume, and it is a collection of some of the best action photographs in the world. It is only on at night since they have to illuminate the pictures. I wish you could have seen it all with us!
I am missing you and I can’t wait to see you again. We are going on a date when I get back!
