August Goals

We are so excited for this month of August! It is a busy month, and because of that, we are focusing on our health in a special way. Over the past few months, Mike and I have felt a little drained and out of shape. We are making our health a priority this month through eating more intentionally and holistically. We originally planned on doing a Whole30 this month but with all we have going on we know it is best for our family to start it in September instead. We are still incorporating as many Whole30 compliant meals as we can into our diet. We also made a goal of exercising each day – so far so good!

This month marks the one year anniversary of Finding Philothea! I will never forget dreaming up this site with Mike and seeing our dream come to fruition over the past year has been amazing. As we plan our upcoming year’s goals for this site, we would love to hear what you would like to see!

At the end of August, we are moving into the convent house we will be living in for the year! We have so much to do to prepare for the move – we still need to pack, clean, and organize! Though our to-do list is constantly growing, we are excited to see where this year takes us as a family.

This past weekend we watched ‘The True Cost‘, a documentary that cut us to the core and radically changed us. Mike is working on a post about the changes taking place within our hearts and home, but I will mention a few things we already did in the past few days. We are now only buying ethically created items. In this site’s fashion section I will do my utmost to promote ethically made brands and clothing. I stopped following many of my favorite fashion bloggers and designers and am working on a letter to plead with them to represent ethically made fashion. Mike and I are discussing together every purchase we make and looking for ethical alternatives to everyday items we need. I am also signing up for sewing classes and researching ways to make our own household cleaning items. These are the little ways in which we are trying to make a change for the better. Please watch the documentary – we would love to discuss it with you!

We hope your month is a special one! August is the perfect month to fit in all our summer activities that we still need to complete! In between all the packing we will be visiting the beach, eating s’mores, and finishing our summer book list. What are you up to this month? We would love to hear!
